Engaging learning environment

At the heart of our curriculum

As an academy, and across the trust, we appreciate the importance of investing in our campuses to ensure that they are engaging environments for learning, which are safe and nurturing for all our pupils and staff.

Here at Allscott Meads Primary, we have a vast range of facilities to support the learning for all our pupils.

These include:
A brand new, extremely modern school building which has been purpose built to enhance the children’s learning in the best possible environment. We also have a large community hall which provides us with an excellent space for school related social events. This can also be hired out for local events to enhance our community engagement.

An excellent range of outdoor facilities including a MUGA for a range of different sports opportunities and events. An outdoor classroom to enable children to engage with the natural environment in all weathers. A fantastic Trim Trail which provides further opportunities for children to engage in a greater level of physical activity in a safe area.

A range of planters which are utilised to grow seasonal fruits and vegetables with the children. A fantastic playground with Key Stage appropriate markings to further enhance children’s learning. A large school field featuring a mile a day track, providing further opportunity for children to engage in physical activity. We also have a newly planted wooded are to support forest schools of the future.

Our purpose built EYFS playground has softer surfacing to provide a safer space for our youngest children. This has been developed to provide a range of enabling environments to link with early development, enhancing independence across the 7 areas of learning.

Our campus is currently made up of:

Six spacious, light and airy classrooms which provide pupils with a range of new resources. The furniture within each class space is correctly sized for the age group who access the room. Each class contains state of the art technology, including a large interactive screen to support teaching and learning.

There is a children’s kitchen which is also used to enhance the curriculum offer as our children can complete DT and Science linked opportunities in an appropriate environment.

We have a school library that is designed to raise the profile of and engagement in reading. This is a calming space, where children are encouraged to read for pleasure and enhance their reading ability.

Our excellent EYFS facilities provide excellent hygiene facilities for our youngest children and an intercom system for collection to keep our children safe.

We know that our pupils learn best when their environment reduces their cognitive load. At Allscott Meads, the classrooms, corridors and outside spaces that are used for learning are calm and focussed on learning. We provide the necessary resources so that our children are successful and make good progress in all areas of their learning.

Our outdoor spaces are used for PE lessons, playtimes, Forest School, Bikeability and a range of curriculum subjects. They are large spaces where pupils can feel safe and have the space to express themselves, build relationships and practise skills.
