Pupil council and champions

At Allscott Meads

we prioritise our pupils’ voices

At Allscott Meads, we are dedicated to fostering pupil leadership and encouraging our children to take an active role in shaping their school community. Through pupils council and responsibilities, pupils can contribute to decision-making, develop key leadership skills, and make a positive impact on school life and beyond.

Pupil council

The pupil council is made up of elected representatives from each class, chosen through a democratic voting process. It provides a platform for pupils to express their ideas and influence the development of their school environment.

What we do:

  • Discuss and implement initiatives to improve school life, such as fundraising events, playground improvements, or new resources.
  • Collaborate with staff to address pupil concerns and ensure all voices are heard.
  • Represent the school in community projects and events.

Skills developed:

  • Leadership and teamwork.
  • Communication and collaboration.
  • Decision-making and responsibility.

Eco-council

The Eco-Council, a sub-committee of the pupil council, is dedicated to promoting environmental awareness and sustainable practices within the school community.

What we do:

  • Lead initiatives such as recycling programmes, litter picks, and energy-saving campaigns.
  • Educate peers about the importance of environmental responsibility through assemblies and workshops.
  • Work towards eco-certifications and projects to enhance the school’s environmental impact

Key projects:

  • Developing a school garden to attract wildlife.
  • Organising waste reduction and recycling competitions.
  • Promoting sustainable practices, such as using reusable materials.

Safe squad

The safe squad works alongside the pupil council to ensure all pupils feel safe, valued, and supported within the school. This group plays a key role in promoting wellbeing, inclusivity, and safety across the school.

What we do:

  • Act as ambassadors for kindness, respect, and anti-bullying.
  • Raise awareness about important issues like online safety and mental health.
  • Support new pupils and help everyone feel welcome in the school community.

Initiatives:

  • Organising events for Anti-Bullying Week.
  • Hosting workshops on online safety and personal wellbeing.
  • Supporting pupils to feel welcome at our school.

get involved

Representing the academy is a rewarding opportunity for pupils to develop their skills, make a difference, and contribute to the success of Allscott Meads. Elections for the pupil council are held annually, and all pupils are encouraged to participate in the activities and initiatives led by these groups.

Together, our pupils and staff work to create a thriving, inclusive, and forward-thinking school community where every child has the opportunity to lead and grow. For more information, please contact the academy office.
